Going Deeper Questions:
1. When Samuel approached Jesse, why did he start with the oldest? What lesson did God teach Samuel? It is easier for us to see the outward rather than the inward. Have you been hurt by someone outwardly good but inwardly not? How can we come to know a person's heart beyond their appearance?
2. Why were the people afraid of Goliath? Why didn't anyone choose to fight Goliath even for the reward Saul offered? Why did David's brother challenge his intention? Have you felt like Saul where the outward factors influenced your confidenceinGod? Why is so difficult to have confidence like David sometimes? What is the benefit/challenge of having our motives challenged - even if from a false/jealous person?
3. Even after placing faith in Jesus we find ourselves being tempted to care about this world and the things it provides. How do we continually take steps closer to Jesus. living out God's victory every day?
