Topic: Our Spiritual Warfare (Part 3) Passage: Matthew 26:36–26:46, 1 Peter 5:6–5:11, Ephesians 6:10–6:20
Going Deeper Questions:
Jesus Warns: Be Watchful! (Matthew 26:36-46)
1. Why were the Disciples so tired? What did Jesus mean about the spirit being willing but the flesh is weak? Do you find yourself driving through life on cruise control, exhausted more than soberly walking with Jesus in His Word and Prayer? How important is avoiding temptation for us believers?
Peter Warns: Be Watchful! (1 Peter 5:6-11)
2. Why is it hard for us sometimes to trust God enough to not only pray about anxiety- but to also leave it there with Him? Why would Peter refer to the devil as a roaring lion? Is Peter talking about Physical or Spiritual devouring? Do you take the time to recognize the reality of Satan and his schemes in this world?
Paul Warns: Be Watchful! (Ephesians 6:10-20)
3. Why are we to put on the whole armor of God? What sort of picture does this shape our Christian walk to look like? Do you view your walk with God like this? One by one go through each of the pieces of armor and describe their purpose and value. What are you doing to train others such as friends, the group you lead, family, children, etc? How serious is our relationship with God if we are not holding this view of our journey here in this world to that which is to come?
