More Than a Building (Part One)

July 9, 2017 Speaker: Damian Mericka Series: The Church: Her Authority & Mission

Topic: More Than a Building (Part One) Passage: Matthew 16:13–16:19, Zephaniah 3:1–3:9, 2 Chronicles 7:1–7:4, 2 Chronicles 7:11–7:16, 2 Chronicles 7:16, 2 Chronicles 34:22–34:33, Zephaniah 3:14–3:20

Going Deeper Questions:

1.

(a) Have you ever felt like you inherited a mess at home, school or work? How did you feel?

(b) Have you ever felt tempted to say, "this isn't my fault" and walk away from something?

(c) Some things in life can be walked away from; others cannot. just like Josiah - he could not walk away from his problems. With God in our midst (so close to us) do you find yourself close to Him? If not - why not?

(d) Finally - have you ever seen something bad happen to someone and feel like, "wow what if that happened to me"? How does that affect you and your relationship with God?

2. Reread 2Chronicles 7:16

(a) How many years have you been a believer?

(b) Can you remember when you first came to God through Jesus?

(c) Did everything seem fresh and exciting - like a new love?

(d) Over the years, with all the ups and downs - does it feel like a journey that has made you a stronger child of God?

(e) During the harder times did you try "reforming" your life to bring change?

(f) Did this tend to lead more to an outward effort to convince others rather than change your heart?

(g) How does being real with others and God bring a changed heart that in turn changes our actions?

3.

(a) Have you ever thought about God singing?

(b) Pretty crazy, yet awesome. but even more profound - knowing the reason He Sings. How does that make you feel?
